From hive to home — honey & skincare made with
care
At Orion Pollinators, we believe in doing things the slow
way. Real bees, real ingredients, real results.
Where the hunter meets the hive.
Everything about Orion Pollinators is connected. Our name
comes from Orion — the hunter of the night sky. Sealgair, the name of our
apiaries, is the Gaelic word for hunter, and a nod to Steve’s surname. And An
Sealladh — “the view” — is the name of our home in Lochinver, on the wild
Assynt coast of the Scottish Highlands. It’s where Steve tends his hives, where
the bees forage across some of Scotland’s most unspoiled landscape, and where
every jar of our honey begins.
It’s not a coincidence that it all fits together so neatly.
This is a business built around a place, a family, and a genuine love of what
bees make possible.
The people behind the products
Steve has been keeping bees for over ten years, starting out
in England before we packed up and headed north to the Scottish Highlands.
Moving to Scotland meant starting from scratch — new landscape, new flora, new
challenges — but Steve being Steve, he threw himself into it completely. The
result is a genuinely special Highland honey that reflects everything brilliant
about this part of the world.
Emily looks after the skincare side of things, and her
motivation is straightforward: she got fed up with the long lists of
unrecognisable ingredients in commercial skincare products and decided to do
something about it. Our beeswax face creams are made with ingredients you can
actually name, using the finest beeswax from Steve’s hives. Clean, nourishing,
and nothing you’d want to avoid.
Between them, Steve and Emily have built something that
feels rare — a small, principled producer making things they genuinely believe
in, in one of the most beautiful corners of Scotland.
About Sealgair Apiaries
Sealgair Apiaries is our honey side of the family. Sealgair
is the Gaelic word for hunter — a nod to Steve’s surname, and a thread that
ties back to Orion, the hunter of the night sky. It’s a name that feels right
for a business rooted in the Scottish Highlands, where the land, the language,
and the landscape all tell a story. Steve’s bees do the hard work; we just make
sure to bottle it right.
Our honey is raw, real, and full of the character that comes
from letting bees be bees. Foraged across the hills and moorland above
Lochinver in Assynt — one of the most unspoiled corners of the Scottish
Highlands — it carries the wildness of the landscape in every jar. No blending,
no heating, no fuss. Just honest honey from happy hives.
Skincare rooted in nature
Our beeswax face creams are made with the same care and
integrity as everything else we do. Emily formulates every product herself,
using beeswax from Steve’s own hives and ingredients you’ll actually recognise.
Rich, nourishing, and free from anything you’d want to avoid — your skin will
notice the difference.
Bees do far more than make honey. Around a third of everything we eat depends on pollinators, and bees are the hardest workers of the lot — quietly keeping our wildflowers blooming, our crops growing, and our ecosystems ticking along.
At Orion Pollinators, healthy, happy bees aren't just good for business — they're the whole point. Steve manages his hives with their wellbeing front and centre, because we know that when bees thrive, everything around them does too.
Is your honey raw?
Yes, always. We never heat or blend our honey, so it retains all the natural enzymes, pollen, and goodness that processing destroys. What you get is exactly what came out of the hive.
Where does the honey come from?
Our bees forage across the hills and moorland above Lochinver in Assynt, on the north-west coast of the Scottish Highlands — one of the most unspoiled landscapes in Britain. The wildness of that landscape comes through in every jar.
Why has my honey gone solid?
That’s completely natural — raw honey crystallises over time, which is actually a sign of quality. If you prefer it runny, simply place the jar in warm (not boiling) water for a few minutes and it’ll return to a liquid.
What’s in your skincare products?
We keep our ingredients lists short and simple — nothing you
wouldn’t recognise.
Face cream: beeswax, mango butter, jojoba oil,
rosehip oil
Cream: beeswax, mango butter, jojoba oil, almond oil
Balm: beeswax, shea butter, almond oil
That’s it. No synthetic fillers, no preservatives, no
unpronounceable additives.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Because we use only natural ingredients with no synthetic fragrances or chemicals, our products are generally well tolerated by sensitive skin. However, if you have a known nut allergy please note that our cream and balm contain almond oil, and our face cream and cream contain mango butter. If you’re unsure, we’d always recommend doing a small patch test first.
Are your products tested on animals?
No. Our products are made in small batches by hand, using ethically sourced beeswax from our own hives.
Do you use any synthetic ingredients?
Emily formulates all our creams specifically to avoid the synthetic nasties found in most commercial skincare. If you have a question about a specific ingredient, just get in touch.
Do you ship?
We can ship across the UK. Shipping costs available at checkout.
How can I get in touch?
You can call us on 07854 075916 or email info@orion-pollinators.buzz. We’re a small operation so bear with us, but we’ll always get back to you.
” Honey is brilliant, thank you! ”
” After suffering with severe dermatitis and eczema for years, and struggling to find long-term relief with steroid creams and prescribed medications, I tried the all-natural beeswax cream — and it has drastically improved the long-term health of my skin.
It gives immediate calming relief when inflamed, and I've noticed real repair in my skin overall. I'd highly recommend this cream to anyone suffering with inflamed or irritated skin conditions.
Easily my favourite to apply — it leaves behind no grease, no heaviness, just decadent relief with immediate effect and long-term skin benefits. I would never go back to steroids and greasy doctor-prescribed lotions! ”
” I can't believe how soft and smooth my skin feels. ”
